Holland House Mexico is closely working together with NLinBusiness in The Netherlands, and the greater network of NLiB Business Hubs across the globe. Much can be learned from countries where the virus spread earlier than in Mexico. We are therefore setting up international webinars with hubs in China, Hong Kong, Poland, Great Britain, and others.  

COVID-19 in Mexico

Mexican president Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) has shown an unconventional approach to the threat of Coronavirus COVID-19 in Mexico, claiming that there is no need to take protective measures. A federal judge ordered the federal government on Thursday, 19 March, to launch a program of measures to protect the population within the next 24 hours.
 
The current measures of protection include:

• Gatherings with more than 5000 people are prohibited
• Schools and universities will be closed on Monday 23 March for 4 weeks.

 
Meanwhile, the virus is rapidly spreading in Mexico (see map here) and the first deadly victim was confirmed on Wednesday 18 March.

COVID-19 in The Netherlands

Unlike other countries in the European Union, The Netherlands is not on lock-down. However, the government has implemented a series of measures to prevent further spread of the Coronavirus. These include social distancing, home schooling and home office for all citizens. Find the complete list of measures here (in Dutch).
 
Furthermore, Minister of Health Bruno Bruins fell ill during a debate on the Corona crisis on Wednesday, 18 March, causing him to resign from his position. PVDA party member Martin van Rijn has been appointed as interim minister.

The Dutch Embassy in Mexico, in consulation with Orange member KLM has prepared a website (in Dutch) with travel information. Tourists are advised to return to The Netherlands immediately. The fastest and easiest way to change flights and purchase tickets is through the KLM website.
