Vietnam’s total steel export value in the first quarter this year rose 5.8% year-on-year to USD 744 million, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs.
In March, Vietnam earned USD 280 million from steel shipments, up 60.3% from February and 6.8% from the same month last year.
The largest amount of Vietnamese steel was sold in the US with 19.64% of market share.
The country saw strong growth in exports to China’s Hong Kong (197.61%), the UK (159.59%) and South Africa (100.7%).
In stark contrast, shipments to Saudi Arabia and Myanmar fell more than 60% to 1.1% USD and USD 6.6 million in the period.
