Developed by Cutuco Energy, the El Salvador LNG terminal construction in Port of La Union includes a tank capable of holding 160,000m3 and a 525MW combined cycle generation plant. The construction of the plant is expected to start in 2018 and will take approximately 3 years. During this time an investment of more than 850 million dollars of the United States of America is expected. This includes a contribution to the economic and social development in the municipality of Acajutla. Challenges for the project include local opposition, as well as the project’s feasibility. The challenges in this project create opportunities for Dutch companies, in which Dutch expertise and technology can be of help. Dutch companies in the energy, logistics or machinery sector can offer knowledge and technology to this project.
