The export products of the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre posted strong growth during the first four months of the year with export turnover reaching nearly USD 360 million, a rise of over 45% in comparison with the same period last year.
Up to 10 major export businesses from the locality have been enjoying success with a variety of products posting strong sells in foreign markets, including seafood and aquatic products, desiccated coconuts, and canned coconut milk.
The export staples from the province have built a presence in 123 nations and territories worldwide, of which Asian nations represent key export markets and account for 61% of the locality’s export turnover.
Last year the locality was able to earn more than USD 1 billion in export turnover and was ranked among the top provinces in the country seeing figures on exports exceed USD 1 billion.
In order to follow its export strategy, Ben Tre province will continue to promote its strengths and potential to improve upon its overall product quality, diversify its agricultural and seafood products, increase the development of local brands, and expand consumption markets.
Le Van Khe, director of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade, said relevant agencies and local authorities are set to collaborate to work with farmers on producing safe and high quality products as well as developing material zones that ensure the supply source.
In addition, the provincial Industry and Trade sector plans to strengthen the provision of support that businesses receive in terms of processing and preserving activities, market expansion, and product consumption as a way of ensuring the smooth development of all sectors within the locality.
