Poultry is one of the fastest growing segments of the agricultural sector in India today. While the production of crops has been rising at a rate of 1.5 to 2 percent per annum, that of eggs and broilers has been rising at a rate of 8 to 10 percent per annum.

Aquaculture is one of the fastest-growing sectors in the country. India is now the third largest fish producing and second largest aquaculture nation in the world. The aquaculture sector is poised to play a significant role in India’s economy, with a shift from marine-dominated fisheries to inland fisheries, which now account for 70% of fish production.

Dairy is a substantial sector that supports the lives of over 75 million farmers. With over ten million farmers, India is the world's greatest milk producer. According to latest numbers, the total bovine population was 302.79 million, with over 187 million tonnes of milk produced.
